Ahaha ahaha. Homaygad. Di ko yata kayang mag diet. This afternoon, after working out, super Tom Jones ako paglabas ko ng gym. Kaya hayun. Eatness first.

Ricky Martin, please give me the power!

Ang Theory

I have a theory why I’m getting flabby (Not fat -- Flabby) inspite of the self-imposed do-not-eat-a-lot and no-rice-for-dinner (which I still break anyway) rules. Well, aside from the lack of exercise, I think it’s because I sit in front of the computer too much right after a meal. Work, internet or (cough) EOTA/DOTA. Buhay call center agent, sort of kinda chuva. Kapag work, wala na ako magagawa. I wouldn’t use the computer if I don’t have to. Pero kapag computer games, nakaka-adik! I don’t know of anyone who also plays EOTA. DOTA marami pa rin yata. But EOTA? Ewan. I accidentally saw the EOTA map online (while looking for DOTA updates) tapos ayun. The AI works with this map perfectly. May kalaban ka talaga. I don’t need other human players to fight the other characters. Palpak kasi AI sa DOTA eh. Either that or I don’t know how to use it. Anyway, this doesn’t make sense. BASTA, I need to cut my EOTA play time.

Good bye to Big Macs na rin. Huhuhuhuhuhu.

MEANWHILE, at a branch this morning, may poging customer kanina eh ako yung malapit sa counter kaya ako yung kinausap niya. So shonget!). Tangina. I am just a sirena, standing in front of a diwata, asking him to love him.

DARNA! Choz to the maximum levels.

Parang Hidden Spa. Ahaha ahaha. Pucha. So any monument now, lalayas ako at maghahanap sa labas ng kape o siomai o donut o hotdog o spaghetti o... hay nako. Kape na nga lang.

Jubesity Walking

I was taking pictures of myself yesterday while I was in the pool and there’s something that I noticed. My front side is hideous! Sideways kasi I look slim-ish. Inflatable boat, PWEDE DIN. It’s either that or hindi talaga ako pwedeng mag board shorts. And for a moment there I felt so so so so bad about myself. Ibig sabihin nito kailangan kong maglakad nang sideways kung sakaling makatungtong ako ng beach this summer kasi mukha akong normal SIDEWAYS. Ahaha ahaha.

Punyeta.

* hikbi, hikbi

…nandito pa rin sa province. Of Alabang.

Ang lufet ng layf!

Kagabi nga pala I was at Bona Coffee westgate with Dondon, Fitz and Lorenz. Parang MIRC coffee night. Haha. My gulay, MIRC. Dial-up memories, ever. Anyway, chit chat lang naman. Tambay sa coffee shop tulad ng dating gawi from 10 years ago.

*****

Kahit na more than 2 years na akong hindi member ng Batis-Sa-E-Rodriguez, nakakareceive pa rin ako ng text info galing sa kanila. At kanina, ito ang natanggap ko.

Borta talaga? Hahaha. Kalerki.

I think I will have visitors this Thursday aside from the boyfriend. Anyway, friends are “invited” to crash. Haha. Magkakaroon ulit ng tao bahay namin! LOL.

Zenti

As I blankly stare at the TV screen while playing a DVD movie of a favorite animation, I realize once again that I'm not as happy as I'm suppose to be. I wish for a lot of things. Mostly simple ones like I a copy of Madonna's Blonde Ambition Tour DVD or shallow ones like a flab free waist. But what I really want more is to see my friends often. I need the company. I wish I have someone to hangout with at home. I'm watching a DVD all by myself, yet pretending I have my friends sitting beside me. How sad is that?

Friends are starting to live away. In effect, it seems I'm the only one left here in Alabang.

And I'm extra thankful that they're all good people. But why does it seem that I'm back to being the one at the end of the line again. I mean, right now I feel friendless.

Nakakasawa nang magkunwari lagi. When I take a swim, I pretend I have a friend with me. When I play Warcraft, I pretend that a friend is in the other room with a computer fighting my character instead of the computer's AI. When I play my Wii, again, I'm in my imaginary world.

This is how I was when I was a kid. And growing up like this wasn't fun at all.

Some people would have gone crazy. I'm a survivor. I guess I am a natural loner.

Mabuti pa si Bolt may bagong friends kahit wala pala siyang super powers.

* sigh

I miss Mimi Sue. I need a hug. :(

Frustration Is...

...trying to update my SE X2 through a Windoze computer (admit it, even if you've switched to Mac, you can't totally ignore Windows) hoping, desperately, that it will improve the software, so I can finally use it.

Time Log

3:34am.
Punyeta. Ba't gising pa ako. Hay!! Mukha akong unicorn. Ngayon naman nadagdagan ng pantal. Mukha na akong kambing.

5:54am.
Kukurukuku! Good morning.

Kasi they're so ingay and talking like Teta Aquino and smoking yosi or marijuana or whatever like there's no bukas and making pintas their friends who were not with them. And one girl's driver was so kawawa kasi the balyenang bruha was so matapobre.

"It's 10 fuckin' 20. Where the fuck is my fuckin' driver? I'm so gonna fuckin' scream at him. I fuckin' swear."

She's so fuckin' mean. I don't fuckin' like her. Like yuh-uh.

8:30am.
My gulay itong mga pulitiko. Up to the last minute, magpapapogi na, mangungurakot pa.

"Ang proyektong ito ay mula kay Chenelyn Jervelyn Chorva para sa ikagiginhawa ng bayan."

Che!

10:50am.
Sa kanto ng Vito Cruz at Taft sa Manila, nakita kong may tatlong pipi na nag-uusap gamit ang mga kamay. Nakakatuwa silang panoorin kahit na hindi ko naiintindihan ang sinasabi nila. Ilang years kaya ang kailangan mong daanin bago ka makapag sign language nang mabilis tulad nila.

I think I need to do something new in my life. I'm bored.

O, di va nga. Deep thoughts effect ang drama ko ngayon. Di ako sanay. Ang sakit sa bangs!

1:43pm.
Botchok called. May earthquake daw. Di ko naman naramdaman. I called Hani. Di din niya naramdaman. O di ba, may something in common kami. Hindi nakakaramdam ng yanig.

3:30pm.
SLEX now. Very traffic. Very wrong.

My gulay Tom Jones na ako.

4:20pm.
Ang daming ginagawa ngayon sa High Street. New buildings. Nababawasan tuloy ng parking space. Merienda at Brother's Burger. Keber sa heavy merienda. Nagugutom na ako.

Oh my gulay, ang daming gwapo!

7:30pm.
Dinner at Oliver's Sandwiches.

9:05pm.
It took me 30 minutes to get home. Not bad for a driver who can't see well at night. Haggard ang mga trucks ha. Gitgit kung gitgit!

Spur of the Monument, Chika

Minsan talaga hindi ako tinatamaan ng antok. Like right now. Kaya nag decide akong pumunta sa Bona Coffee Westgate at tumambay. Maybe write something. Ewan. Madaming tao ngayon. Pero hindi puno. One thing I like about this place is the cozy atmosphere. I’m sipping hot chocolate and munching on a muffin.

Hmmm. Bakasyon na nga yata talaga. Daming bata dito ah. And they’re drinking coffee?

Hmmm. Gucci gang alert. Ayun. Sa kanto.

Hmmm. Tangina. Ang daming lamok. And they’y making papak my beautiful legs.

O kapatid? O asawa?”- Amy, "Sanglaan"

When I hear the term Indie Film, what comes to mind is a tasteless and cheap, low-budget film that is usually gay themed and that can pass for porn yet producers say that it’s art. But thanks to Cinemalaya, Indie Film producers who promote decently done cinematographies have a venue to feature their art. One of the films that I wanted to see in last year’s film festival was Sanglaan. The title is also the movie’s setting which is a unique venue for a story. That attracted me to it plus the fact that pawnshops have a connection to my life. RAWR!

I bought a DVD copy last weekend while roaming around Powerplant Mall. It put a smile on my face when I saw it on the rack. Sanglaan is the most recognizeable word in my personal dictionary.

Sanglaan is a story of 5 main characters each having personal conflicts but still connected to each other. It shows a pawnshop set-up that is slightly familiar. The events are realistic and the business problem situations presented are the actual problems and fears every pawnshop owner has. What can be disturbing in this business is no matter how much you give your faith to your god, bad things will still happen. It clouds one’s mind with doubt but only for a while.

Generally, what I like about the film is how it presented the story. The cinematography is note worthy (I want my own HD camera…. Echoz!) and the final effect is sentimental. The actors were very good. People who are tired of “porn in indie film” will be happy to know that there is no nudity whatsoever in this movie. However, inspite of my praises, the movie was forgettable, but not in an aweful way. It’s still a good an hour and a half of your day if you don’t have anything important to do.

Porny Puppets

I first watched Avenue Q 2 years ago and I loved it. Watching it for the 2nd time last saturday (same time, same venue) made me appreciate the play even more. Probably because I now know most of the songs.

And yes, the internet is for porn.

*****

Met new friends as well that day. After an afternoon merienda at Pancake House in Rockwell, we had dinner at Som’s Noodle House which is just a block away. The owner did a major renovation on the place. What used to be a canteen-like kainan is now a three-storey building with parking space for 3 or 4 cars at the front. There are still tables and chairs on the street. We decided to eat there, instead of the enclosed airconditioned space, to still have that canteen feel like how we used to know the place.

It was a good night. Though, I couldn’t fully participate in the conversations because of my dry cough, which has been going on for 3 weeks now.

I wanna watch Legally Blonde the Musical next month. Yez, meron po siyang myuzikal!

Traditionally Impractical

I have this feeling that my Tita Syl is the only resident in our village who holds a Pabasa during the lenten season. Her German neighbor has already complained about the "noise" the readers/singers make. But she doesn't care about them because the screaming of his bratty grandchildren the whole year through is much worse.

To my knowledge, my family's tradition of Pabasa started about 30 years ago, by my Tita Carmen. It was her way of thanking God for all the fortunes she has received. She has her own life sized Black Nazarene and a huge hanging crucifix in her house. But she had to migrate to the States in the 80s and the Black Nazarene and the crucifix were donated to a church in Sta. Rosa Laguna, my family's hometown.

Once a year, Tita Syl borrows the Black Nazarene from the church to bring it to her house and hires a group of devotees for the yearly Pabasa. My Mom would sing for about an hour, tops, usually in the late afternoon when it's amost over. Tita Syl would sit at the side, and from time to time leaves the group when a new visitor arrives.

Personally, I still don't know why the whole family has to come to this tradition. Nobody prays, my nephews are not interested, the elders chit chat most of the time and everytime we visit the place looks more like a party than a prayer meeting because of all the food. I just don't think it's practical anymore. This has become more of a social event.

And when I asked my Mom why my Kuya wasn't there this evening, she said he had a dinner meeting with his friends. Ganon? I should have just sneaked out this afternoon and pretended to have a dinner meeting of my own. At McDonald's.

Little Man Swimming

While the rest of the Philippines was crowding on TV sets watching the Pacquiao fight (and I suppose walang traffic din today), I was playing in the swimming pool. Yep. I wasn't there for the exercise. It was hot today - but not as hot as some days ago - I decided to just dip in (Summer is here!!!!). With an ipod speaker at the side, I was enjoying the Sunday. I would have enjoyed it more if friends were here, though.

Oh yeah, Pacquiao won. "You know."

Follow Me

My point-and-shoot camera has a built-in video function that can record in time lapse mode. I recorded this vid sometime last month, started from the gate of our village and ended in my room. The actual shooting took at least 20 minutes. The final video is 48 seconds long.

La lang. Chorva lang.

Vortah!

The End Na Ha

So ayun naman pala. Si Ruffa lilipat na ng ibang station para mag "host" ng isa pang program that would go against The Buzz, and last weekend was suppose to be her 2nd to the last Sunday with the show. When Kristeta said that "70% of viewers in Laoag.... (chorva chorva chorva)" watch her show, it was like telling Ruffa na mas marami pa ring nanonood ng The Buzz and it's because of her. May yabang factor, yes. But then Kris has contributed a lot for the show and has hosting talent naman kahit na paano, but for me Boy Abunda is better. In fairness naman, nagpapatawa si Kris when she said that. I still didn't find anything wrong with what she said. It was a simple thank you and chorva to the world.

I noticed that Ruffa got irritated by Teta's last statement, "aminin mo, masaya dito." Opinion ko lang naman. I think she's bitter about it because she's not happy being part of The Buzz. Kaya na nga lilipat sa kabilang station eh (I wonder if her contract with ABS CBN has actually ended). Maybe she's not happy not being the bida of the show. Well, para maging bida ang isang tao at tumagal, you need talent. From the days of the glorious (yet forgotten) Metro Manila Film Festival scam 16 years ago ("Take it! Take it!") until now, I still don't know what her talent is. True colors shining, kumbaga. AHAHAHAHAHA.

Reality check. Teta's acting is equally sucky, in both real and reel life. Naloka ako nung nalaman kong nanalo na pala siya ng best supporting actress award some time ago. Sinong kalaban niya, si Mahal at Mura? She and Ruffa should be sisters in spirit on this. But Teta has spunk and can host a show without great dependence on dummy boards (skill ang pagiging madaldal), unlike Ruffa and her macho and straight (cough, cough) brother Raymond. Their mother Anabelle made things worse and almost out of control by getting Noynoy somewhat involved which was so WHAT-THE-HECK-ARE-YOU-TALKING-ABOUT. Kabakyaan level, I swear. Siguro kung nagmamaneho yun tapos nabangga sa pader, sisisihin pa din ang pader for blocking her way. The Noynoy part, according to a blogger's comment, is probably because Raymond hosts (campaign) programs for Villar, or something like that. Chika.

They're ko KAKA ha. Like, so KAKAhiya ha. Making tampo and making things super mega gulo like that? Yuh! Tapos the mother of Miss Tangkad who talks like a tricycle driver made singit pa. It's so annoying ha. Like yuh!

Punyemas. Mas masamang hangin ang dumaan.

So really, OA session lang talaga itong Teta-Ruffa catfight.

Ding! Ang Fern-C!

Hindi ko Ma-Gets

Sorry for the jologs moment pero.... ano ang masama sa sinabi ni Kristeta kay Ruffa Rigno? Paki interpret, pleaseness? May hidden story ba dito?

(Sing) San Juaaaaaan.....

I was in Greenhills yesterday (my parents thought I was in Binondo) with The Boyfriend and we parked at this side where there's a row of condominium buildings. The view from the top parking deck is just awesome. The view from one of the condo units must be way better. Dapat lang kung nagbabayad ka ng milyon!

Sometimes I imagine of living in a condo. Right in the middle of a city.

Like...

"...in San Juaaaaaaan.... Concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there’s nothing you can’t do, now you’re in... SAN JUAAAAAAAAN, these streets will make you feel brand new, the lights will inspire you, lets here it for San Juan, San Juan, San Juaaaaaaaan...."

Alright. The heat is making me CRAZY. Waaaaaah!

Embracing Baldness

This is the shortest haircut I ever had. My first time to have my head completely SHAVED (and my first time to see a barbero in almost a year!), and it feels wierd. The shaving process took at least 20 minutes. Visually, I THINK it looks almost the same as shaving my own head with an electric razor. Because for one my Mom and Dad didn't even notice my totally hairless head! And when I told them what I did, sabi lang ng tatay ko nasisiraan na ako ng ulo. Har! Actually, nasiraan ako ng hair follicles. 2 years ago I had my balding spot treated at Svenson Hair Clinic. But 6-digits pesos later, my head still looked like a buttoned siopao, not anywhere like how Joey Marquez or Mark Gil looked in pictures, kahit mukha pa rin silang naka peluca. I continued to lose hair as months went on. Now I'm just embracing my baldness. I'm as bald as a pwet.

I might do this again. The total shaving I mean. Maybe next time when I get a (quickie) vacation to save myself of shaving in the morning and packing my electric razor in the bag. But not on a beach vacation. Maybe. I took a shower this morning after my workout and the hot water gave my head a burning feeling. It must be worse when I'm under the sun. Or baka sanayan lang yan.

I'm glad I have a better looking head than many baldies (sabi ng nanay ko).

5 Points

I love reading Facebook comments. LOL!

Rolex 12

Rolex 12 is the collective name of twelve of the closest and most powerful advisers of President Ferdinand Marcos during the martial law years in the Philippines from 1972 to 1981.
During the latter years of his second elected term, Marcos conspired with various leaders of the military and Philippine Constabulary. The goal was for Marcos to gain full authoritarian control of the country during his declaration of martial law in 1972. Marcos gave the military leadership powers during martial law, taking over from democratically elected officials and court judges.

The twelve were responsible for many human rights atrocities, although the extent of their responsibility is still being investigated. These atrocities include torture, murder, seizures of property, displacement from homes, and arrest and detention without due process.

The origin of the name Rolex 12 came from a widespread story and some sources that each associate received a Rolex watch from Marcos himself, although this is allegedly proven to be untrue. Others, however, would pursue the argument that Marcos provided them with watches that appear to be Rolex watches but were actually fakes. Historically, each member was just given an ordinary watch by Marcos. But because of the story, the name Rolex 12 stuck and is still used to refer to these twelve Marcos associates. Some of them fled with Marcos when he and his family left the Philippines in 1986.

Zambales Weekend

I just had my first beach weekend for the year. It was a 4-hour drive from Manila to Zambales. Maybe more.

O sige. 5-hour drive. But I'm blaming the excess time on our vehicle. We reached the Town of Iba in Zambales just in time for lunch. We ate at Chowking. Everything we ordered was different from the pictures posted at the counter. Jard's Chowfan was I think the worst.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Yan ang Pinoy!

We reached the resort less than an hour later. As soon as we checked in at Dawal Resort (1,850 pesos for the weekend good for 4 persons), we went to the beach to meet the bangkero who will take us to Potipot island.

The boat ride -- 400 pesos round trip -- is just 5 minutes away. The weather was calm but it was still a mistake to sit at the front of the bangka.

The "entrance fee" is 100 pesos per person. But if you plan to camp overnight, it's 200 pesos. Oo nga naman. Nakalagay na sa picture.

I brought my hermit crabs with me so I can set them free. As pets, I think they're boring. Kaya pinakawalan ko na lang sila. Mukhang sad naman sila sa akin eh. As soon as we picked a bench to settle in, I went closer to the water, placed them on the sand and let them rest. I saw them a couple of times underwater while I was swimming.

I was afraid they won't be able to adapt to the new environment. Wala kasi akong nakikitang ibang hermits. Yun pala they're just smaller and live in tiny unpainted shells. :)

There are wooden huts on the island but I don't know the rental fee for these kung meron man.

Toilet use is free. You can do either a number 1 or a number 2. Just flush your own crap, of course. Buhos system.

The water pump is also for everyone's use. For bathing or cleaning.

The water was really clear. The kind of beach everyone would love to go to.

There's a safety line indicating the boundary where it is safe to swim in. And I was glad to see visitors pitching in to keep the place clean.

There are garbage bins around the island. Maintenance personnel collect the trash from time to time.

Aside from the small pieces of trash, the presence of jet skis was also a disturbing sight for me. Potipot Island is pictured as a clean and serene place but the use of this watercraft contradicts that image. Jet skis are noisy, they leave behind traces of gas and pollute the air.

Overall, Potipot is nice place to visit for the weekend, just as long it's not crowded. A day trip is enough. The island is so small, you can walk around it, along the beach, in less than an hour. I'm expecting more people to discover this little getaway place soon. If I were as rich as Villar, I'd buy this island for myself and keep it private.
